Retail Summit 2027 In-Store Forum

Connecting shopper value, physical conversion, store execution, intelligent operations and real buying behaviour

The Retail Summit 2027 In-Store Forum brings together retailers, FMCG companies, consumer-goods brands and the wider In-Store ecosystem across two days, two stages and six focused blocks. Each stage is organised around three connected decision areas.
Together, the stages connect what the retail ecosystem intends to create with what stores and shoppers experience in practice. Day 1 focuses on credible shopper value, the physical category and choice environment, and retailer–brand execution. Day 2 focuses on intelligent store operations, physical service and experience, and the missions and habits that shape valuable buying behaviour.

DAY 1 | FROM SHOPPER VALUE TO PHYSICAL CONVERSION AND EXECUTION

Day 1 examines how retailers, FMCG companies and consumer-goods brands create value that shoppers can understand, translate commercial and category choices into a clear physical environment, and ensure that planned activation can be executed consistently across real stores.

In-Store Shopper Value & Activation

The shared commercial layer: creating credible shopper value, converting category and assortment choices at the shelf, and making retailer–brand activation work in physical stores.

VALUE → CHOICE → EXECUTION

1. Price, Promotion & Shopper Value
Align price, promotion, private label, trade investment and shopper communication so the value proposition remains clear and credible without weakening margin, category value or future shopper behaviour.

2. Category, Assortment & Shelf Conversion
Turn category roles, assortment, private label, manufacturer brands, shelf space, product communication and physical execution into a clear choice environment that helps shoppers decide and converts commercial intent into sales.

3. Retailer–Brand Activation & Store Execution
Align retailer and brand objectives, roles, local adaptation, stock and material readiness, store communication and verification so physical activation survives real formats, stores and operating pressure.

Outcome: A clearer basis for creating credible shopper value, turning category and assortment choices into physical conversion, and making retailer brand activation executable across real stores.

DAY 2 | FROM INTELLIGENT STORE OPERATIONS TO SHOPPER EXPERIENCE AND BUYING BEHAVIOUR

Day 2 examines whether stores can detect and act on the right signals, support shoppers through physical service and experience, and learn which missions, habits and interventions create valuable buying behaviour.

In-Store Operations & Shopper Experience

The store-capability and shopper-reality layer: turning physical signals into operating action, using space, people and technology to support shopper decisions, and testing investment against real missions and behaviour.

OPERATIONS → EXPERIENCE → BEHAVIOUR

1. Store Operations, AI & Automation
Choose which store signals, exceptions and workflows should be monitored, prioritised or automated; define who acts and what remains under human control; and prove improvements in workload, execution, loss, service or response time.

2. Store Experience, Service & Assisted Selling
Use space, navigation, human service, product interaction and relevant technology to help shoppers understand, explore, receive advice, decide and complete the physical journey.

2. Store Experience, Service & Assisted Selling
Use space, navigation, human service, product interaction and relevant technology to help shoppers understand, explore, receive advice, decide and complete the physical journey.

3. Shopper Missions, Habits & Buying Behaviour
Understand which missions, habits, convenience patterns and moments deserve support, what behaviour is worth changing and whether interventions create additional value rather than subsidising behaviour that would already have occurred.

Outcome: A clearer basis for applying AI and automation to real store work, designing physical experiences and service that support shopper decisions, and understanding which missions and habits create valuable buying behaviour.

Why the two stages belong together

Why the two stages belong together

Day 1 determines what value, category and activation the retail ecosystem intends to create. Day 2 determines whether the store can operate, guide and serve in ways that make those intentions useful to real shoppers. The programme is designed for company and partner teams to combine the commercial, operating and shopper perspectives rather than for one person to follow every block.
